Initiative held during Police Commemoration Week to support thalassemia and cancer patients; EV vehicles flagged off for Spandana teams to strengthen women’s and children’s safety

Hyderabad: Demonstrating its commitment to public service and humanity, Hyderabad City Police organised a mega blood donation drive at the Central Armed Reserve (CAR) Headquarters and 37 other locations across the city today as part of Police Commemoration Week.

The initiative aimed to support patients suffering from thalassemia and cancer, along with accident victims and others requiring blood during medical emergencies. In an overwhelming response, approximately 5,700 units of blood were donated by police personnel across various ranks, reflecting the spirit of compassion, sacrifice and service.

Appreciating the police personnel who voluntarily participated in the noble cause, the dignitaries acknowledged their contribution and described blood donation as a life-saving service to humanity. The initiative highlighted that the responsibility of the police force extends beyond maintaining law and order to serving society in times of need.

Appeal to Private Hospitals to Restore Public Trust

On the occasion, concerns were also raised over certain practices in private hospitals that have affected public confidence and created doubts surrounding blood and organ donation.

An appeal was made to private hospitals to address these concerns through corrective measures, transparency and responsible practices. It was emphasised that restoring public trust is essential to encourage more people to voluntarily donate blood and organs, ultimately helping save countless lives.

EV Vehicles Flagged Off for Spandana Teams

As part of efforts to strengthen public safety, electric vehicles (EVs) were also flagged off for the Hyderabad City Police’s Spandana teams.

These dedicated vehicles will enhance the response capabilities of Spandana teams, particularly in attending complaints and Dial-112 emergency calls related to women and children.

The new EV vehicles will complement the existing police patrol system and Blue Colts, enabling faster response, improved accessibility and timely assistance to those in need.

Appreciation to Sponsors and Donors

The organisers expressed their sincere gratitude to all police personnel who donated blood and the sponsors who extended generous support towards making the initiative successful.

The mega blood donation drive and the introduction of EV vehicles for Spandana teams stand as significant examples of Hyderabad City Police’s commitment to public welfare, humanitarian service and the safety of citizens.
